Nice radio authority Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell) fights to be an average stepfather to his wife Sara's (Linda Cardellini) two adolescents, Megan and Dylan, and is evidently spotless after an incident to his testicles a couple of years back. The children begin to grow closer to Brad, with Dylan confiding in him that he is being singled out at school and Megan asking for that he take her to a father/young lady move at her school. One night, the youngsters natural father Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg) calls, and finds that Sara has remarried. He along these lines and out of the blue proclaims he will be passing by the next day. Sara is hesitant about her past mate being in their home, yet Brad influences her that it is imperative for the youngsters that their father and stepfather set up points of confinement with each other.
